July Miniatures Painting Contest: The Basing Battle! Start

Join us for another miniatures painting contest! This time we are focusing on skill-building with a focus on basing miniatures. Entrants will receive free entry into the contest with the purchase of the miniature you wish to enter. Miniatures must be purchased from our store and painted between July 1st and July 31s, 2024. Entries will be judged primarily on their basing. Basing is taking the plastic stand your miniature comes and dressing it up to make it feel like your miniature is part of the larger world, such as adding textures like grass or sand.

All entries must be submitted by July 31st, 2024.

There will be a Childrens, Beginner and an Advanced category, with prizes for the winner in each category. If we have enough dioramas entered, I will create a separate a category for them.

Judging Criteria:

Most important: Does it look like you had a good time painting your miniature?

Beginner: Overall impression of basing (theme, texture, shading) and does it mesh well with the way your miniature Is painted. Beginners must use the base provided with the miniature and may not be placed in a diorama.

Advanced: Overall theme, texturing, shading/highlighting and creativity. At least 50% of the original miniature must be present. Advanced entrants must create a custom base that is larger than the base the miniature came with (think small diorama – so a base with a few small terrain accent pieces).

Diorama: For those who just can’t stop and want to go big, we have the diorama category if we have enough entrants. We want to see something that tells a story. Wow us!
